Trail talk: abandoned vehicles on the Corfu Trail

Reliant supplied a large number of three-wheeler pick-ups to Greece in the 1970s

Walking the Corfu Trail it is impossible not to notice the profusion of abandoned vehicles- cars, motorcycles, vans, even a lone bus. The reason for their demise must be varied, beyond practical use, stolen, broken, forgotten or unloved. A selection of just some of those seen over this 150km trail.

    • Certainly one was being used to store the nets they place beneath the trees to catch the olives. And as I am sure you will have seen, two of those I show have been used to place trail signage on!

  1. On sighting the first one I was thinking its a bit of a mess and rubbish ruining he trail…..but after a few more I actually quite enjoyed seeing them in their various states of decay, always wondering what the story behind them was!

    • I don’t think they are going to be cleared away any time soon! And there were a great deal more than these. But I have seen too many abandoned tractors and towed farming implements in UK fields to go wagging the finger too much at Corfiots
